FAQ

Only the finishes. Every configuration here shares the same body, dimensions, drawer layout, and certified burglary and fire ratings. What changes is the exterior color, the hardware finish, the hardwood in the drawers, and in one case the security rating.

The Gibbs configuration carries a UL TL-15 burglary rating, a significant step up, but it is not rated for fire. Fire and burglary protection are built from opposite materials, and engineering both at the highest level into one body adds considerable weight and cost. Gibbs suits a client whose priority is professional theft rather than fire, or who has fire addressed separately. It is also slimmer, at 19 inches wide.

The TL-15 configuration differs at 42″ H x 19″ W x 22.5″ D and 680 lbs. Its footprint is 40″ H x 22″ W x 24″ D at 730 lbs. Measure with the door fully open, since swing clearance is what surprises people, and check the path from your entry. We will review both with you before you order.

Yes. Weight alone is not security: a crew with dollies and a vehicle can remove an unanchored safe and open it elsewhere. Anchoring is also a seismic safety measure, and many policies require it for coverage. Our team handles it during white-glove delivery and confirms your floor construction before anything is drilled.

UL and ETL ratings are earned through independent third-party testing rather than claimed by the manufacturer, which is why underwriters recognize them. Requirements vary by collection value, location, and loss history, so involve your carrier before you order rather than after installation. Our specialists work directly with underwriters.

An independent laboratory heated the safe under controlled fire conditions and certified the interior stayed below 350 degrees Fahrenheit, where paper begins to char, for a full hour. That covers most residential situations. If you are in a wildfire-prone region, ask about two-hour configurations.

Often, yes. We keep inventory at higher burglary ratings, and RSC II, TL-15, and TL-30 configurations are available across most models. If your carrier requires a specific rating, tell us before you order and we will point you to inventory that qualifies.
